Thank You For The Music! - Monday Moodboard

You must be familiar with the feeling when a song sets the mood for your whole day. This is what happened to me yesterday with the ABBA hit that still has its effects on me today. This is probably because it has reminded me of a certain nice summer night.

I watched the movie Mamma Mia on DVD back then, but so many people praised it beforehand that the expected buzz was somehow missing. Then on this summer night it was showed in the movie theater of a local small town (11pm!) and we went to see it. And on this summer night in the crowded theatre, laughing and crooning together with the other viewers and my husband next to me the magic somehow worked.

“Thank You For The Music” was the last song in the movie showing as the credits rolled and almost everyone left already but we stayed until the very end and then had a great walk in the still pretty warm night. This is a nice memory and a really good Mood to start the week with.

Have a nice week!

Edit: Brenda mentioned that she will find and listen this song. So here it is:

Fresh Air After the Storm - Monday Moodboard

We had a huge storm over here, raining all night with horrifying thunder and lightning all the time.
Today it is a really clear day, fresh winds are blowing and we have a clear view all the way to the mountains.

May Flowers Scavenger Hunt - Come and Play for Many Wonderful Prizes!

The PCF Team on Etsy is having a great event for May! It is called the May Flowers Scavenger Hunt! This hunt will run exactly the way the April Flip Flop hunt was ran; so if you joined in on all the fun of that one, you are one step ahead of the competition…. woohoo!

There will be 33 shops (my shop is one of them :)), and all will have a hidden picture that you will have to "hunt" through their shop items for (HINT- the picture is the image in this listing)! Each shop has donated a prize worth at least a $10 value; that is a total of $330 plus in prizes... woohoo!!! There will be a total of 7 prize packs given out (winners will be chosen at random by random.org, based upon number of entries correct and complete entries we have)... each prize pack will consist of 5 prizes...so each winner will get a prize pack of at least an incredible $50 value… how about that?

The contest will begin at 9:00 EST on May 21st, and will run until midnight June 4th.
All entries and PCF shop purchases must be submitted by midnight June 4th.... and NO entries will be accepted after this time!

To enter, you have to go to a directed starting point: http://www.etsy.com/listing/100300309/pcf-team-may-flowers-scavenger-hunt

This will give you all the details... and the first shop on your hunting adventure! And then follow the links to the next shop... Every time you find the hidden picture, that item description will give you a link to the next shop. As you go through the shops, make a list of all shops, in the order you are given them. At the very last shop, you will be given an email address; you will send the completed list to this address. If anything is incorrect, you will be notified, and given a chance to re-do the hunt to get it all right! :)

Do you want more chances to win? Read on!

Everyone who sends a complete shop list, in the correct order, will receive one entry to win a prize pack.

If you "FAVE" the shops as you go through (you have to fave every single shop...this means having an Etsy account, and adding each one of the 33 shops to your "favorite shops" list…simply click on the tab to the left that says ♥add to favorites), then you get another entry.

If you "FAVE" one item from each shop as you go through (again, you have to fave an item from every single shop...to do this...when you have a single item from a shop pulled up…look to the right, and click the ♥icon that says "favorite"), then you will get a third entry.

If you BLOG about the team event, and send Nichole (info above) a link to the blog post, you will get 5 extra entries!

So, you have the opportunity to receive a total of 8 entries to win a prize pack in total!

Super Duper Prize Pack - $330 Value At Minimum

In addition, all shops are donating another prize...all 33 of these prizes will be combined into one HUGE prize pack. This pack will be valued at a minimum of $330!!! The winner of this super duper prize pack, will be the drawn out of entries from shopping with PCF Team shops during this event. Each dollar spent at a PCF Team shop during this event will earn you one entry... each dollar spent at one of the 33 shops on the hunt list, will earn you 2 entries. The more you shop, and the more you shop with the 33 shops on the list, the more chances you have to win! Please send transaction links of all purchases to Nichole at kidd.robin [!at] ymail.com ...thanks! Purchases not submitted will not be counted! Nichole cannot calculate your entries, if you do not send her purchases... She needs transaction links and dollar amounts for each purchase, and the shop name you purchased from.

Winners will be chosen on 3rd of June. :) They will be announced on Nichole's blog at: http://ciaraandcompanybowtique.blogspot.com, on the PCF Team blog at: http://pcfteam.blogspot.ca/2012/03/pcf-team-spring-promotion-event.html, on other member's blogs, on the PCF Team Etsy Group: http://www.etsy.com/teams/10036/promoting-creative-friends, and on the PCF Team Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/#!/pcfteam

Good luck! And I hope to see you there!

Blogs In The World – And My Adorable Award

I think it is amazing that all around the world still so many people keep their blogs up to date, though in the time of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Flickr this is not so easy anymore. Lots of people take pictures daily, write and share their thoughts. I follow several blogs myself which can be seen on my bloglist and there are some that aren’t there but I still read them frequently!

I’ve learned lots of things from these blogs already and it is especially a good feeling that I can get to know the life, work, hobbies and thoughts of people who live far away from me, and even though we’ve never actually met each other, in good time they still became my good familiars.

Which is why it is great joy and honor that Ann from Magpie Quilts nominated my blog for the Liebster Blog Award. The word “Liebster” means “beloved” in German, and they award it to blogs that are even though quite small but are worthy of attention. I like this thought and it felt really good that Ann thought of me.

Ann creates wonderful quilts, one of my favorite (which can be purchased in her Etsy Shop):

In her blog she recently started a very interesting series, titled “How To Buy A Quilt”.

Thank you, Ann, for nominating my blog for this award!

The Leibster award is given by bloggers to exceptional blogs with fewer than 200 followers. For those who decide to accept the award, the Liebster Rules are:

1. Post about your win on your blog.

2. Link back to the blogger who presented you with the award.

3. Copy and paste the award to your blog.

4. Present the Liebster Award to 5 blogs that have less than 200 followers that you think deserve to be recognized.

5. Let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

The following are (in no particular order) are my own nominations for the Liebster Blog Award:

For Quilts Sake – Pam is from Ohio and this is my actual favorite from her. I had to view it several times again and again as I’ve always found some new details worthy of attention.

It is interesting that even though I feel like the traditional quilts and patchworks are the closest to me, Pam’s imagination and playfulness always astonishes me which is why I eagerly wait what she will come out with next time! If you would like to look around in her shop as well then click here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ForQuiltsSake

DUEALBERI - Antonia and Fabio are from Italy and they are members of the European Etsy Team just like me. They make amazing photographs, this is one of my favorites.

On their blog we can find out about their works in more detail, but we can read interviews with other artists as well. If you would like to take a look at their shop then click here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/DUEALBERI

Pamela Quilts - Pam is from Oregon and she was my Quiltsy Team Buddy after I got accepted among their members, I have a lot to thank her for.

On the picture above you can see the extraordinary Floral Irish Chain which is her own pattern. While Pam creates beautiful quilts from card holders to really large bed quilts, she also teaches and has published several patterns as well. You may find all that in her shop as well if you click here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Pamelaquilts
Busy Hands Quilts - Myra is from Washington and I really love her quilts and the way she picks out her fabrics for each other, which make her work really warm and cozy! Her Etsy shop is here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BusyHandsQuilts

And I found this funny picture at her blog as well!

Jannimary - Janice is from Australia and this amazing green glass collection was the first thing that led me to her blog.

I found out afterwards that Janice is a quilter as well and I’ve read many interesting blog entries about her travels, quilts and quilter meetings.

I can’t find on her blog how many followers she has, but I think her blog definitely deserves to be recognized which is why I would see it among the nominees of the Liebster award!

Please take a minute to visit these ladies, take a look around in their blogs and leave a comment for them!

Happy Quilting! – National Quilting Day

Today is the National Quilting Day in the United States. Every third Saturday in March the National Quilting Day celebrates fabulous quilts and those who make them.

Today is a day to recognize and appreciate the quiltmakers, the skill and the warm and the results. If you are a quiltmaker, spend a minute to recognize and appreciate that you have truely been blessed with a special skill. If you are not a quiltmaker, wrap yourself into a quilt and enjoy the warmth. (http://www.holidayinsights.com)

In Hungary I am celebrating today with making a crochet needle case holder roll with a suitable coaster and making a new treasury with my favorite quilts. :) And you?

Clicking on this small picture will direct you onto my treasury on Etsy:

Happy Monday Moodboard – Springtime Flowers

Around here Spring arrives really slowly, every sunny day is followed by one that is quite cloudy and cold. Crocuses already crawled outside in our garden, but they are shivering as well.

I miss sunlight and the flowers a lot already which can be seen that when I’m sewing I usually start with the cheerful flower patterned fabrics first and somehow the sunny spring flowers come first in my treasuries as well.

So let this Monday Moodboard be like this as well, even if this day was vastly covered by clouds in the sky, let’s be cheerful!

You can check out all the other Monday moodboards at Star of the East's Blog.

And here is my happy Spring coaster set, just like the sun is shining right now!

As an addition my treasury of the day. The title will not surprise anyone I guess: Springtime Flowers.

Coasters for Valentine's Day

This four is actually on route to their new home, but I really liked them so I thought I could show them here.

I appliqued the hearts with the technique that I practiced on the wall hangings onto the linen base. This is still the same linen that I have written about before. (Last year I’ve got a whole roll of home-made linen from my grandmother – her mother and grandmother wove it at home by their hands, which is a big treasure. It’s rough weaving, natural-colored or self-colored.) I was sure that these red hearts would look very good on this natural base and I believe I was right.

I made the binding with my current favorite, the red polka dots fabric that turned out to be buttons in great hurry.

I hope everyone has a happy Valentine's day, with roses and many chocolate, red hearts and everything else that comes with it! :)
